Devil Driver has had success directly with the release of
its first album in 2003. But it's largely thanks to the excellent
technical level of the musicians, which is quite surprising in the
middle of the neo metal (even if it leaned a lot on a thrash/death
side). Then there is the fact that the compositions are direct and
simple, very accessible, very American in fact. Last but not least is
the fact that its singer and leader Dez Fafara is other than the cried
band of neo metal Coal Chamber, which also had a popularity rating of his time existence. Thanks to its favorable Devil Driver had a future mapped out on the metal scene, and time has not deceived the above.
But a little deeper music of our five accomplices. To begin,
Dez's voice, the main asset of the band is really unique and distinct
from any other. This was already an asset to his former band, in
addition to their original style and they belong to a burgeoning scene.
At the beginning is the impression that we have, but as time passes
more weary voice, and shows its weaknesses in its lack of diversity.
Second comes the music: brutal, technical but flat! Hundreds of
training already play these cards there, and often with a greater
identity than Devil Driver
which finally put everything on the particularity of the voice. We
wonder what the musicians of this level are to play compositions also
bland and repetitive for 6 years. I will surely get a lot of enemies
(even among my relatives, to say) in criticizing the lack of
personality of their music, but it's a fact: this album is every bit as
precedent. Devil Driver invents nothing, bring nothing, if not its trade image and the small compensation for all mourn fans of Coal Chamber to continue to hear and see Dez still in business. Next!
