La première chronique de la tape de BLACK BLEEDING est déjà apparue!

Black Bleeding are a blackened brutal death metal band from Belgium. The band started out back in 1999. Shortly thereafter they released their debut demo entitled “God Attack Victim”. The band went on to release two full-lengths which include the debut from 2002 “Beyond the Flames of Hell”, and “The Great Satan” from 2009. In 2014 the band finally released their third full length album which took five years to complete. The result would turn out to be called “A Bright Future”. This album features eight new tracks at nearly thirty-five minutes of playing time. Initially the third album of Black Bleeding was self-released in 2014 on compact disc format. Nihilistic Holocaust released the tape cassette version this year. This is the second time Nihilistic Holocaust worked with Black Bleeding. The first was a re-release tape version of “The Awakening” ten years ago.
Not being familiar with the earlier works of Black Bleeding I can only talk about the present sound and presentation. Blackened death metal played in a brutal way would be the easiest way to describe the sound of the album. Overall, the sound of “A Bright Future” is a melding of style which can be described as modern day extreme metal. At the same time, the band demonstrates some old-school roots. I can also hear some old-school heavy metal present in the riffing. When I mention “old-school” when addressing the new Black Bleeding album, I’m referring more to the 80’s rather than the 90’s. Most of these examples can be heard at the beginning and ending of the songs. The music is played in an extremely aggressive manner not without a hint of melody. The band has been compared to early Impaled Nazarene, specifically the “Ugra-Karma” album. I can hear this in the song “Older, Fatter, Balder”, especially in the drum sound. Interesting ideas can be heard on this track and on the album in general.

For old-school thrash and black metallers like me, Belgian band BLACK BLEEDING are a very easy kind of act to love. They are unashamed, angry and full of energy, which is nothing new, but never claims to be anyway. Describing themselves as the kind of grumpy old punks who were “around in 1977 and then sold out to become rich exploiting human stupidity”, their attitude is belligerent, bold and brash as they reissue (on tape) the third full length of their seventeen year career via Nihilistic Holocaust.
Whilst so many extreme metal albums today will begin with an atmospheric intro or a slow build up, A Bright Future kicks off with just a pick scrape before launching into a crash of cymbals and tremolo riffs. Alexandre’s vocals are putrid and guttural, yet carry a catchy chant in the chorus, albeit a rough and coarse one, but it is his guitar work that carries this LP with a variety of melodic riffs, distorted power chords and Slayer style, serial killer scribble solos.
The punk ethos is held throughout the tape, with a demo/DIY feel which the trio surely have no intentions of losing. Under the three minute mark, “The Curse of Self Respect” rumbles with a gritty, Motorhead sounding bass and dirty swagger, before bursting into a black metal blast. This album is full of rough and ready rawness, with a live, rehearsal room atmosphere ignited further by the top quality riffs throughout the record. Technically, the timing is a little off at times, and this is far from a polished performance, but without it’s grit, this record wouldn’t stand out from this rest in the way it charismatically does.
Fans of bands such as Midnight and Nunslaughter will know that when using this kind of old school formula, shorter releases have more impact, and at only eight tracks, A Bright Future manages to sound punchy, mettlesome, and diverse in the genres of punk and extreme metal. So throw the tape in your deck, grab a can and head bang!

FATAL UNDERGROUND Zine (Ger):

Neues Futter aus dem französischen Undergroundhauptquartier von „Nihilistic Holocaust“ .Diesmal geben sich die  Belgier von BLACK BLEEDING die Ehre .Schon seit 1998 am Start ,wurde wohl bereits 2014 dieses ,ihr mittlerweile drittes Album , auf CD in Eigenregie veröffentlicht. Nun wird mit der Tapeversion noch einmal nachgelegt ,um auch den letzten in den gut 34 min. davon zu überzeugen ,was man Mucke mäßig drauf hat .In einer teilwiese leicht chaotisch wirkenden Vorgehensweise  , watend man ganz schön ruppig und tief durch den old school Sumpf, wobei es zum größten Teil immer so eins voll vors Fressbrett gibt . Irgendwo zwischen Black-, Death- und Thrash Metal angesiedelt ,gepuscht mit ner ganzen Menge an rauen ruppigen Punk Sounds ,zeigt man sich fast durchweg extrem aggressiv .Hierbei lässt man aber dennoch immer mal wieder so einen gewissen Ansatz an „Melodien „ aufblitzen ,die sich in Form von Tempodrosslungen und melodiöseren Riffeinlagen darstellen .Obwohl die insgesamt gesehen technisch einiges auf der „Kirsche“ haben ,klingt das Ganze dennoch richtig schön roh ungeschliffen und geht sofort in Mark und Bein über. Auch im Bezug auf die gesanglichen Darbietungen zeigt man sich alles andere als lahm und ermüdend . Alles in allem ne ganz „nette“ Veröffentlichung ,die man sich getrost auch ein zweites Mal reinziehen kann . 2,50 Euros + Porto sind auf jeden Fall ein mehr als gerechtfertigter Preis für das Teil . BLACK BLEEDING aus Belgien existieren bereits seit 1998 und mit „A Bright Future“ wurde das dritte, bereits 2014 in Eigenproduktion veröffentlichte, Album auf Kassette herausgebracht. Das Trio spielt brutalen und rohen Death Metal mit kurzweiligen schwarzmetallischen Einflüssen.
„A Bright Future“ hinterlässt bei mir einen zeitlosen Eindruck. BLACK BLEEDING fahren nicht unbedingt auf der seit einigen Jahren angesagten Old-School-Schiene, sie sind aber auch alles andere modern, erst recht nicht trendig. Das Album hätte so auch vor zehn, fünfzehn oder zwanzig Jahren erschienen sein können oder eben auch im vergangenen Jahr. Trotzdem klingen BLACK BLEEDING nicht wie der x-te AUTOPSY- oder INCANTATION-Aufguss – was ich sehr positiv bewerte!
Die acht Lieder sind direkt, schnell und in einem rauen Klanggewand gekleidet. Doch so rau wie es zunächst den Anschein hat, sind die Belgier gar nicht. Die Lieder sind im Detail vielfältig. Die Saitenfraktion sorgt immer wieder für gute und überraschende melodische Momente aber auch am Schlagzeug wird einiges geboten. Das Schlaginstrument klingt manchmal leider etwas dumpf und blechern, doch neben dem schnellen und monotonen Geknüppel gibt es viel Variation im Spiel.
„A Bright Future“ breitet in mir eine wohlige Stimmung aus, die sich aus dem Zusammenspiel von rohem Klang, dreckiger Attitüde (Grind, Thrash und Punk lassen grüßen) sowie Primititvät und Brutalität zusammensetzt. BLACK BLEEDING zementieren auf „A Bright Future“ einfach eine herrliche Demo- und DIY-Atmosphäre. Die Kassette wurde beklebt und kostet 2,50€, da kann man nichts falsch machen.

Začínají se mi na víčkách srážet kapky krve. Vidím jakoby přes blánu, utkanou z červených pavučin. Zmlátili mě, pohodili na kamennou podlahu a zamkli do jedné opuštěné kobky. Prý jsem se protivil Bohu. Neležím v podobných podmínkách poprvé, historie se stejně jako black metalem načichlý death metal opakuje. Belgičtí tmáři BLACK BLEEDING mi dodali kazetu, která měla velké tendence zahltit můj byt černotou. Nic nového v podzemí, ale snaha se počítá, napadá mě při poslechu asi nejčastěji. Kývám se do rytmu, ale strach nepřichází. Má kobka je až moc prosvícena světlem. To je také největší problém téhle desky. Je příliš vstřícná a přívětivá. A to je u black/deathu docela problém.

This CD-R is a review copy of an original release on cassette. I don't know anything about this band... but they are very impressive! Extremely catchy stuff. The first track 'A bright future' is amazingly cool sounding. I suppose you would class them as death metal, but definitely not your standard run-of-the-mill band. Musically the band fucking shreds! The songwriting and musicianship is top notch. Every song has its own sound, never leaving you bored. If you can get your hands on this you will not regret it. Incredible.

Bordeláři všech zemí, zbystřete! (smích) Z Belgie se hlásí banda špinavců, které není nic hnusného lidské a nic veselého cizí (mrkněte na adresu FB profilu). Přesvědčuje o tom v osmi dějstvích v rámci jednoho alba, na kterém míchá výše uvedené žánry, aniž by si lámala hlavu s tím, jak to dopadne...
Předpokládám, že BLACK BLEEDING budou pro většinu našinců neznámým pojmem, nicméně nejde o žádná mláďata, kapela se letos dožila plnoletosti a na kontě má několik různě dlouho hrajících počinů včetně třech full-lenght nahrávek, přičemž ta poslední vyšla v roce 2014 na CD (i jako digital release) a loni pak na kazetě. A právě kazetová verze doputovala z Belgického království na náš redakční stůl, aby rozjitřila vzpomínky na časy dávno minulé... Ani ne tak kvůli tomu, že jde o magnetofonovou kazetu, ale spíš kvůli obalu, který je jak z roku 1991 – žádný lesklý křídový papír, ale obyčejný a navíc jako kdyby vyjel z kopírky, nikoliv z tiskárny, o grafice pak platí to o těch časech dávno minulých dvojnásob.
Během 34 minut toho belgické trio stihne až až. Nejdříve se věnuje šlapavému oldschoolovému black/death metalu. Titulní skladba se netváří nikterak volnomyšlenkářsky, ale spíše zábavně ve smyslu, že posluchač by se měl bavit, hlavně na koncertech, kde to asi bude docela divočina. Riffy, ze kterých je song poskládaný, připomínají řadu již slyšených nahrávek, hlavně těch z 80. let; je to neučesané, syrové, špinavé, včetně „zpěvu“, který nelze označit ani jako řev, ani jako křik... prostě zastřený chrchlot. V podstatě mi je tahle poloha BLACK BLEEDING sympatická, podupávám si do rytmu a nehledám v muzice nic jiného, než odreagování „tady a teď“. Postupně se kapela pouští do dalších zákoutí, chvilku se hraje na rock´n´rollovou notu, tu zarachotí hardcore, tu dokonce punk, dohromady to překvapivě nechutná jako dort z Povídání o pejskovi a kočičce, ale jako docela dobrý eintopf.
Největší hitovkou je „It´s good to be the king“. Po úvodním frenetickém „projevu“ se rozjede chytlavá rotykoidní divočina, v níž se prezentují dva pološílené zpěvy a střídají thrashové pasáže s volnějšími, nechybí ani docela slušné sólo, které opět jako kdyby vylezlo z nějakého dema nahraného v osmdesátých létech minulého století. V ještě extrémnějším duchu, spíše deathmetalovém, se odvíjí „Older, fatter, balder“, ta pravá nefalšovaná zábava pak přichází s parodickým intrem (ve francouzštině) uvozenou dvojskladbou „Habay cock city / Athus toxs city“, jež má nejblíže k tzv. splash punku. Doufám, že si to každý přeložil jako splašený, nikoliv splaškový. (smích)
Při všem tom blbnutí se nedá říci, že by kapela patřila do ranku tupých hoblovaček tří akordů, řada pasáží prokazuje, že když pánové chtějí, tak hrají nechci říci nějaký zašmodrchaný progresivní black/death metal, ale solidní řemeslo, chaotické, ale ne trapné nebo směšné. Možná se na mysl vkrádá srovnání s IMPALED NAZARENE, alespoň co se intenzity a drive týká.
Zmínit ještě musím starodávný zvuk, který naznačuje i v bookletu uvedený termín „acoustic drums“, který doufám znamená, že zvuk bicích je přirozený, protože mně přirozený přijde; kytara i basa pak zní hodně „raw“ a „true“.


CANADIAN ASSAULT Webzine (Can)
When you hear this Belgian bands name, and see the accompanying artwork, it feels like the album title does not fit, just too optimistic and happy sounding. Then I hear the music on first few tracks, and it is harsh and violent black death metal, with an old school metal air in the pacing and arrangements. The vocals are great deep rolling growls, which are very commanding in performance, which is accented here and there by some good black metal style rasps. Then we get down to it by track 4 and 5, “Its Good To Be King” & “Older, Fatter, Balder”, this is when the album title started to make much more sense to me. The band starts getting more experimental, and more commercial sounding in a way, with the fancy little start and stops, increasingly happier sounding melodicism. This is also about the time this album started to lose me, after I had quite enjoyed the first three tracks, the cheerful and bouncy riffs, and arrangements, just do not fit the style of music at all. Plus with all honesty, they just do not seem to have the chops to pull this off, the songs start to get clunkier, choppier, lacking the earlier flow and coming off as confused, conflicted and forced. The album gets back on the rails by track 8 (which for me makes four really good songs and four kind of lousy songs), which is the longest one on the album, so at least they finish strong. As you can see, for me, it is a mixed bag with half of the album being excellent and other half of the album being muddled mess and sub-par in quality. It is a shame, because when these guys are playing the right way, for the style they play it in, it is something bordering on superb, then they trip on their own feet the next moment. It is caveat emptor on this release for me.


CORE AND CO Webzine (Fra)
3 eme album du groupe en 15 ans, A Bright Future est d'abord sorti en format CD autoproduit en 2014 avant d'être réédité en tape l'an dernier par les fouineurs de bons albums peu connus que sont Nihilistic Holocaust. L'album marque aussi la dernière participation à un enregistrement de leur bassiste d'origine avant son départ du groupe (Le Fred), que l'on retrouve sur cet album. Il a depuis été remplacé par Josh dans les lives.
Faut dire qu'après le très bon The Great Satan sorti en 2009, qui suintait bon l'Impaled Nazarene période Ugra Karma et les récents Darkthrone tout en gardant un côté progressif assez personnel, on se demandait si Black Bleeding allait aller plus loin dans l'éclaboussage musical au sang de bouc avec un subtil bouquet de houblon.
Qui dit troisième rejeton dit assez souvent temps de la maturité, de quoi en théorie faire un bon candidat pour le top rétroactif des albums Black/Death 2014.
C'est dans ce type d'optique que je me lance dans l'écoute de cet avenir radieux.
De toute évidence, les fans de Black sans fioritures seront relativement déçus de ce A Bright Future, moins intense et Blackened Death que sont prédécesseur, moins de solos de batterie à vendre son âme au Diable en se tartinant la tronche de make up, en déchirant sa chemise et en hurlant à la pleine lune.
Il n'en reste pas moins tout à fait intéressant en proposant une recette un peu différente cette fois (sauf pour le houblon, je vous rassure) : si le Black est un peu en retrait, c'est pour proposer un album plus varié, constamment entre Black/Death/Thrash/Crust voire Rock And Roll avec (l'ombre de Mötorhead plânant ici et là). On y retrouve les influences Impaled Nazarene précédemment citées, mais aussi plus récentes (période All That You Fear), et d'autres assez difficilement identifiables dans ce bric à brac peut être moins intense mais loin d'être chiant pour autant.
On y retrouve au final ce qu'on aime bien chez les Belges: Balmuzette en freestyle derrière ses fûts (Zealousness of the Convert, Older, Fatter, Balder, A Bright Future, The Curse of Self-Respect) , une semi balade crustisante (Habay Cock City / Athus Toxs City), une basse bien lourde ( Can Food & Weapons, Three more Beers and the Truth), du The Great Satan (The Curse of Self-Respect, It's good to be the King, Zealousness of the Convert).
Complètement de quoi passer un bon moment, même si on peu regretter la rage dévastatrice du grand Satan. Du bon, du chaud, du gigot de bouc.
